Post-Apocalyptic Stealthy Fun Coming Soon with ‘Z.O.N.A. Project X’

No genre is as love-or-hate on mobile as the First-Person Shooter. They tend to require quick reflexes, and precise input, which touchscreen interfaces notoriously stifle. There have been plenty of successful FPS’ released on mobile, most famously the Modern Combat series, but even there, some of the more quick paced battles online seem unmanageable with what our mobile devices offer us. One of my favorite games on iOS, Deus Ex: The Fall ($6.99), addresses this by giving the player the option to choose a more stealthy style of gameplay. Z.O.N.A. Project X seems to adopt this more strategic style of FPS, in fact the developer is calling it an Action-RPG, although it is in fact a shooter from the first-person perspective. You’ll be spending more time hunting down enemies, sneaking around, and memorizing patrol patterns, so it does stray from the generic FPS staples of fast paced, gun blazing action.

‘Falcon Fail’ Is A Game Inspired by How Hard It Is To Land Real Rockets

Landing a rocket isn’t easy. Rather, from my experience, landing a rocket doesn’t LOOK easy. Not in real life, and not in most video game adaptations, including Falcon Fail. Lumps newest rocket simulator arcade game has you attempting to land a rocket on a platform in the middle of the ocean, failing miserably fairly often, if not most of the time. If rockets crash landing in the middle of the ocean sounds familiar to you, you might be thinking about the SpaceX Falcon 9 that crash landed earlier this year. Rhett Allain of WIRED wrote an article inspired by this crash, detailing how difficult it is to land a rocket like this, which led developer, Lump, to try and emulate this level of difficulty in a game after reading the article.

‘ChronoBlade’ Cinematic and Gameplay Trailers

ChronoBlade is an upcoming Action RPG from nWay that looks like a whole lot of fun. The story involves your run of the mill “heroes from different realms unite to take on a galactic evil” storyline, but what really grabbed my attention was the character models and overall design. Gameplay involves all the hack-n-slash goodness you expect from ARPGs, and I’m assuming there will be some degree of upgrades and equipment, or else it wouldn’t quite be an RPG.

‘Fantast War Tactics’ Coming Soon

Strategy RPGs tend to work rather well on mobile devices. The turn-based gameplay gives you control of how long you want you sessions to be and takes away the hassle of fumbling with touch controls, combined with a visible grid of movement that makes zooming in and out of battles, and panning around easier to control with these obvious reference points. Nexon is bringing a new competitor to the SRPG ring with Fantasy War Tactics.

Check Out The Gameplay Trailer For ‘Knights of Pen and Paper 2’ Coming May 15th

The original Knights of Pen and Paper ($4.99) remains my favorite RPG ever released on mobile. I’ve played through it more times than I can remember, and though I’ve removed it once or twice, it remains on my device to this day. The art style was retro but good looking, the battle mechanics seemed like a perfect fit for mobile, with different battle lengths, and the story was amazing, containing a ton of hilarious gaming and pop culture references.
